This project started about 2007 and is ongoing.
The Dutch Skies 360° HDRI skies are are already being used for 3D, Architecture, VR, VFX, Games, Movies and even Advertisement productions ( you can find some examples in the Showcases in the top the navigation menu ).
The magic of capturing skies with clouds in all kinds off different weather moods is really something that gives a lot of energy/ideas. The skies are captured always on the same spot *) in a town called Scheveningen ( the Netherlands) . That location ( please image below or click here for the Google Earth location )is ideal because the weather conditions can change very quickly so on some days can have 4 session and capture 250 Gb of RAW images and all skies can be all completely different. Very addictive too for sure.
Whats interesting to me personally is that the technical part is always under "investigation". New methods are being tested in the "lab". When the time is right it will be shown on this website.
In the online shop you can try and perhaps buy the Dutch Skies 360° HDRI. You can find there also non skies HDRI's that are free (commercial license is optional).
Here you can find the pdf catalogs of the current Dutch Skies 360° HDRI's that are available.
Captured so many skies that there is a big "waiting list" here for the skies that still need to be processed . Just have a look at the Dutch Skies 360° XL (19k HDR) Session Preview PDF Catalog here.
In the case you might have some question please be sure first read the FAQ Help Center. Most information can be found there.
Cannot show all examples how the skies are being used for projects from clients but you can imagine going to to cinema in Scheveningen, watch a movie with the Dutch Skies 360° HDRI skies in it and you cannot tell anyone about it due to a non disclosure. Then thinking what would the other visitors of he same movie think when they would know that the skies where recorded a few hundred meters away from the cinema location. That thought is enough for me and gives a big smile!
This project will keep me busy for a LONG time. Even if now would stop recording for sure can work on the skies for at least 25 years so now stop typing no time to waste!

*) first series where captured on the previous spot (please see image above ) until they decided to place a fence.
